What are birth control pills?

Birth control pills are medicines that people take to prevent pregnancy. They have a small amount of synthetically made estrogen and progestin hormones that prevent the fertilization of an egg and a sperm. There are 3 types of birth control pills; combination pills, progestin only pill and emergency contraceptive pill.
