What is breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding also known as nursing is when a baby is fed breast milk either directly from the breasts or after being pumped from the breast and offered to the baby. Exclusive breastfeeding is highly recommended by the doctors in the initial few months after the baby is born as it helps is the development of the baby.

Breastfeeding however is a personal choice and the type of breastfeeding can be based on the parent's preference. There are two types of breast feeding – exclusive, where the baby is given nothing but breast milk or partial, where breastfeeding is supplemented with baby formula.
