What is gender identity?

Gender Identity is an individuals personal understanding of what their gender is. Gender identity and sexual orientation is mutually exclusive. It is how people see themselves and their relationship with gender. Examples of gender identity include cis-gender, transgender, gender-queer, pan-gender, a gender, gender non-binary among others.
